Nyasia Sylvester

Journal Entry: Mon Oct 24, 2016, 8:24 PM
So many images you would think I never shot anyone else. I have but I have more images of Nyasia then anyone else. That being because she was at my place everyday for 12 hours for 2 years. She came by in October 2012 to do a Halloween shoot and came by every day since until June 2014 when her lessons were over.
Lessons? Yes. I taught her how to model better than she was already doing. She was mainly a runway model and not much experience in fashion studio shoots.
So each day we picked a theme by either imagination or by her seeing some fashion images online or in magazines. I taught her to study other famous models and their posing style. We studied Margaret O'Keefe's  hands and I had her studying dancing from Christine Agulara's videos to Rihanna.
In 2013 I gave her one of my cameras. I told her to better understand what I do and see she would understand how to be a better model. She said she didn't want to model forever but loved modeling at the moment. I spent the next year teaching her how to be a photographer and editor of photos. I also taught her how to use digital art software. She was already skilled in drawing traditionally so the only thing new was how to translate her artistic talents through a computer.
Each day was filled with modeling, Photography and art. Both of us never had a day of rest. Most of the theme shoots came from her. Many from myself also. She would say things like "Today I want images of me in a luggage bag." and I would say "Lets do that in Black and white."
At the end of June 2014 we started to stale. We shot everything imaginable and she really took to the photography. Through the two years we shot everything. We went everywhere and we tested everything. We shot in Expensive hotels, subways, Grand Central, Times Square, Chinatown, Brooklyn, Queens, Long Island and so many other places. Nyasia met so many celebrities and so many people of worth and she made so many fans through Social media.
Since she left she has become a full time pro Photographer and with those skills have traveled to other countries. She has met other skilled people in her age group that she can depend on from Make up artist to stylist. She is doing great on her own. I am so proud of her.
Of course you will still see images I shot of her. I have 100,000 images of her and way too many that have not seen the light of day. I have been looking at them once in a while for 4 years. Not all of them and once in a while I see a shoot we did that I totally forgot. Each set we shot has at least 100 images and I only put up one since I was only interested in what the shoot was about at that time. Then later looking back I see ones that I missed and since it was over 2 years ago I forget what was in my mind during the shoot so I am looking at the set with a fresh mind and see new gems.
So yes there is and will be a lot of images of Nyasia for years to come. On my DA here she has lots of fans. Fans message me all the time asking when I will put up more of her. Some fans comment how they feel she is a part of them now. Like they know her in rea life. I know of many who download her image and put them as their desktop background and many who print and hang them on their walls. It is to these fans that I promise to continue to post images of Nyasia. She is special to me and to many many fans.
So with that I shall get to Nyasia files in Lightroom and search for the next winning image.
